Why is telling the truth so hard?

Every once in a while, reality seems to smack me in the eye. In a field in which shades of gray seem to dominate, black and white reality emerges. Like what happened this week. A quick visit to our legal department sent my reality hurtling down an existential track. Having taken a position that was to delve into the inner workings of damaging legislation, I realized that I had the answer back in December. A simple recommendation to re-work a definition was given and then ignored by the masses. Worse, it was ignored by me. Why was it ignored? It seemed to simple.

I have always believed that complex questions required complex answers. My experience has shown that it doesn't. Sometimes the simple answer makes the most sense. The simple answer is what I need to share with management next week, a committee that I have worked with for the past 3 months. It needs to be shared over and over. This simple truth could lead to big changes or it may be acknowledged and forgotten. Still needs to be told.
